We're Petal.im, a small community of friends hanging out online, using (and sometimes making) open-source software. Formerly hazel.cafe, and briefly home to a personal streaming site, the focus has shifted to hosting useful services for all, with new members being added from time to time. XMPP has been in use since late 2024.

Note: The .im registry still does not support DNSSEC, so this domain may change after December 18th, 2026. Update your contacts if this happens. (I decided not to change the domain last time, so it's not likely)
Petal.im has a strict No LLMs Policy. We will never generate code, prose, visual or audible media, or any other medium with the use of LLMs, as they fail to attribute original works, disclose the nature of their output, or even comply with legally-binding licenses. In the words of the Unlicense, "we make this dedication for the benefit of the public at large and to the detriment of our heirs and successors" and believe that this inspires a more creative, respectful, and human world. Adopt a similar policy and lead by example.
If any hosted software is known to use LLM code, a suitable replacement may be found, depending on severity, labor involved, and resulting impact on the overall service.
